Metz Township is a civil township of Presque Isle in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 331 at the 2000 census. Metz is a small unincorporated community within the township.
In October 1908, a large forest fire consumed 2,500,000 acres (10,000 km2) of Presque Isle, and most of the area of Metz. Killed were 26 men, women, and children, many of whom were on a train derailed by rails twisted from the fire.
